Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is for women experiencing one or more of the following:
- Prenatal and Postnatal
- Urinary incontinence
- Frequent urination (more than 8 times a day)
- Bowel issues - diarrhea, constipation, incontinence, straining
- Pelvic pain (e.g. vaginal, rectal, perineal)
- Pressure in the pelvic region
- Pain with intercourse (during or after)
- A diagnosis of diastasis recti, vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, vaginismus,
dyspareunia (painful intercourse), interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia, chronic pelvic pain, levator ani syndrome,
piriformis syndrome, coccydynia, urethral syndrome, bladder pain syndrome, bladder sphincter dysenergia.
- Low back pain, especially if it is persistent (pain lasting for 3-4 months) or
recurring (comes and goes)
- Breathing difficulties
- Tension in neck and shoulders, especially if it is persistent (pain lasting for 3-4
months) or recurring (comes and goes)

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapist will take a multimodal approach to assessing and treating your issue(s) and/or pain. The assessment may involve an internal (vaginal and/or rectal) examination depending on the issue and your comfort with this type of exam day one. An internal exam is the only way we can truly assess the status of the pelvic floor muscles (tight, tender, weak). Treatment differs depending on the status of these muscles. If they are tight, we have to work on relaxing them, which may include some internal myofascial work, education and home exercises. If they are weak, we need to work on activation, strength, and endurance of the pelvic floor muscles, which may include some education and home exercises. Implementing the right treatment from the beginning will help resolve your issues and/or pain more effectively and efficiently. Taking this approach typically leads to more meaningful and long-lasting changes versus a temporary relief or a quick fix. All sessions are one on one with a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.

Overall, treatments may include: soft tissue/myofascial techniques internally (vaginal and/or rectal) and/or externally, core exercises (strengthening, lengthening, or endurance), breathing exercises, functional exercises with core engagement (squatting, bending, running, lifting, etc), and joint mobilization, and acupuncture as necessary.

Our relationship with the world around us is so intricately connected to the relationship we have with ourselves. Having struggled with weight, relationship with food, and depression myself, I know the frustration and helplessness of losing control and feeling stuck in a cycle.

I work with clients heavily on rebuilding trust and establishing better relationships with food, so they can regain a sense of unbreakable confidence from within. I incorporate the theories of nutrition and traditional Chinese medicine to build nutrition and wellness plans that optimize health and performance. Using mindset coaching to address the root cause of binge and stress eating, so chronic dieting is nothing but history.

My education in psychology led me to a counselling position with The Ministry of Children and Family Developments in British Columbia, where I worked with clients battling addiction, mental health disorders, and conduct disorders. I felt the calling to continue my healing journey into the physical realm, which took me to complete my doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine.

After years working as a trainer, nutritionist, and counsellor, I’ve realized people don’t need more rules and restrictions. They need more freedom and a change in their internal narrative. Quit the mindless deprivation, start practicing mindful indulgence and start living!

I have always been fascinated by the human body and how we function. Coupling that with a desire to help others is what made massage therapy a natural career choice for me. I graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Centennial College in 2000. After all these years of practice, I am still passionate about what I do.

Back when I was studying kinesiology I had a friend complaining of headaches during our midterm exams. After a neck massage, their pain was gone and they joked that I should make this my career. It was shortly after this that I left mid-program to set myself on the path to Massage Therapy.

My massage treatments incorporate Swedish Massage with deep tissue techniques and trigger point therapy. I have done additional training in Myofascial Release, Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology, as well as Pre and Post-natal massage. I am also certified in Lymphatic Drainage.

Lifelong learning is vital to creating safe and effective treatments, and being able to share that knowledge with my clients is part of the care I love to provide.

I have been practicing as a Physiotherapist for 8 years, and in that time my problem solving, manual therapy, and exercise prescription skills continued to advance; however, one thing has remained the same— my client-centered approach. I truly aim to find the root causes of your problem and work with you to come up with an individualized treatment plan. My goal will always be the same as yours; to make you feel and move better!

To provide an exceptional standard to care to my clients I have invested a lot of time taking continuing education courses as well as completing an additional Master of Science degree in Clinical Anatomy. This degree advanced my anatomical knowledge and enhanced my communication and teaching skills. To keep current with these skills I work as an anatomy teaching assistant in the Physical Therapy department at the University of Toronto.

Outside of academia, I have completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Certification from McMaster University, the Level 1-3 Upper and Lower Manual Therapy Courses through the Orthopedic Division of Canada, and most recently I have completed the Level 1-3 Physical Therapy Approach to Female and Male Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Pain, and Persistent Pain through Pelvic Health Solutions. These courses had a large focus on persistent pain and alternative assessment and treatment options. I am really excited to share my new knowledge and skills, especially when it comes to clients with persistent pain (lasting 3-4 months). If you have struggled with persistent pain, I truly want to help. Persistent pain is not only physical; it is emotional, psychological, social, and biological. All of these components need to be addressed when assessing and treating persistent pain; however, typically, only the physical component is addressed, and the results tend to be temporary. Let me help you understand and manage your pain over the long term.

I try to continually supplement my knowledge base by listening to Podcasts, TED Talks, and online courses discussing Traumatic Brain Injury, Concussion, Pain, Nutrition, Vulnerability, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Meditation. As my knowledge base grows, the tools I have to help you multiply!

I enjoy spending time with my dog Tuna, husband Rob, and friends and family. I love to read, travel, and attend concerts! Most days of the week you can find me at a Barre class working on my strength and endurance. I spend time working on my emotional and psychological well-being and am currently trying to incorporate meditation into my daily life. I definitely practice what I preach!

I grew up in a small beach town in Southern Ontario before moving to Victoria, BC where I started my Massage Therapy education at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2007. I moved back to Ontario to finish the program in Toronto at their sister school, the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy. I explored the industry by practicing in different environments before I found my passion in rehabilitative therapy clinics.

Having worked many years in rehabilitation clinics, I gained experience by treating a variety of clients, from the injured athlete to the office worker. I tailor the treatment by assessing client symptoms, posture, and pain patterns. In addition to treating an injured area or area of pain or discomfort, I look at the entire body as a whole and treat other areas that have been affected by compensating.

My treatment style consists mostly of deep tissue, active stretching, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and cupping. I modify the pressure to my clients’ preference and I also offer aromatherapy treatments where I integrate essential oils within the massage to amplify their experience.

I love everything health & fitness and I spend a lot of time researching and learning about the wellness industry. I’ve tried many different avenues of fitness but my favourites are weight lifting and advanced pilates. Training fuels my fire and is a necessity to my everyday life for both, my body and mind.
